April showers bring May flowers... and showers mean mason jar soups! Some of our options include Brunswick Stew & Cherry Beet Gazpacho, but they rotate daily so keep an eye on the grab-and-go case.
Aside from the environmental component, storing food, especially warm food, in glass instead of plastic whenever possible helps minimize your exposure to phthalates. If you don't have the option to purchase something in glass from the start, consider transferring those items to a repurposed jar before storing in your pantry or fridge.
Researchers have linked phthalates to asthma, ADHD, breast cancer, obesity, type II diabetes, low IQ, neurodevelopmental issues, behavioral issues, autism spectrum disorders, altered reproductive development & male fertility issues. Says Erik Olson, “We’re getting past the phase of complete denial from the industry – they can no longer claim that there’s no risk at all with phthalates.”
Check out an article from The Guardian outlining the current 'phthalate state', along with the new research available to better inform your choices & ability to avoid them.
