Amazi is a local, woman-owned, mindful food company on a mission to help you snack on purpose.
Their products are sourced directly from organic farmers groups and made in partnership with small businesses in Uganda. By supporting local supply chains, they inspire sustainable industry, job opportunities, and creative growth within Uganda’s agricultural sector.
Amazi was officially founded in April 2016, but has been a dream for years. After studying abroad in Uganda, Renee received a grant to return for her thesis research in college, where she studied entrepreneurial environment in Uganda. Renee was struck by the high degree of hustle and rich agricultural sector, yet perplexed the lack of local industry and the opportunities that were going to waste.
Issues of competition, waste, and unemployment inspired Renee to explore the possibilities of local AgriProcessing to provide growth avenues and inspire creativity for entrepreneurs, small businesses, and farmers alike. An unfulfilling job and an ending lease - combined with her passion for healthy snacking! - inspired her to finally hop on a plane and explore this as a reality. She hasn't looked back since.
